(/\)1968 Belen Rivada, the internationally acclaimed photographer was born in in Galicia, Spain.
In the grey, green and misty western country, she learnt to watch fantasmagoric shadows appearing and disappering in the never to be trusted hilly landscape.
(/\)She studied applied Art at university and upon graduation decided to explore South America, Cuba, Venezuela and Brasil.
It was in Cuba, that, on a beach she swapped her Denim jeans for a providential soviet made Zenith camera.
Back in her Galician hometown she won the first prize in a photography competition.
(/\)1994 she found herself in another misty, foggy town, London where she discovered an other limitless landscape, a multicultural megapolis.
There she gravitates, learns, shoots and experiments in all areas of the photographic scene. She took various courses, in B&W, colour, slide and sound montage and attended the Brighton Film Making School.
(/\)1998 she went on to win other prizes, coming second in the Sunday Times Magazine competition, for her series about the sea, seagulls, grey and misty boundless landscapes & solitude.
(/\)She also colaborates with a journalist for Noticias ( UK edition) as well as freelancing for other publications (The Entertainer, Salsa News, Komedia Magazine). She did the porfolios for the Facepack Theatre Company. In the studio she does shoots for models , music bands, portraits and weddings, etc. Working on location she has followed different events for London based Communities.
(/\)2001, she was involved in the art scene in Toulouse, France where she participated in a poetic performance and photographic experience of "Paysages Lysergiques suivi de Techno Corps" with the French poet Vincent Mialet, at the gallery Photo Sensible.
(/\)2001 Belen Rivada now goes on to imerse herself in the colours and exentric life of another capital in southern europe, Barcelona, Spain.
